Before she was Evita, and way before she became Esther, Madonna was the center of the pop music universe. She was the coolest diva in the land. She was spontaneous, fun, brash and extroverted. Now twenty years later, the diva was blaring "Dress You Up" as I picked out my Yoplait Light in Albertsons.
But as I walked back through the bottled water and dietDemon aisle, I suddenly became possessed to not only sing the lyrics outloud, but also stop, shake my ass, and break out my best 1980s dance moves. I know, definitely, unhip. But ya know what? I didn't care. It was fun. It was spontaneous. And it brought back a lot of great memories of clubbing, hanging out with friends, and simpler times.
Moral of this story: Life is short. Live in the moment. And stop being so damn serious!
Come to think about it, perhaps Madonna Esther should break out one of her old albums, crank it up and try being more spontaneous again too.

kb,
That just happens to be one of my favorite Madonna/80s songs. Loved dancing to that tune. I've been thinking quite a bit about how much I miss getting dressed up and going dancing till the wee hours of the night like i did back then. Last year I went to a conference in Florida w/my MA Cadre and relived our undergrad days: staying up late, dancing, laughing....it was good.
I've also been on a listening jihad to the new-ish George Michael album, and it has quite a few good Euro dance mixes that make me want to shake my ass. So as fate would have it, I was listening to that album as i pulled in the store parking lot...in an unusally happy mood...when I walked into that "Dress You Up" trap which resulted in a spontaneous dance/fool fest. Cie la vie!
Cheers Mate!
